This morning at 3am, Corporal Scott Severns of the South Bend Police Department was pronounced dead. He was 36 years old. Shot by a teenage boy who (unaware that he was a police officer) was trying to rob him. Scott was a great officer. A great brother- police officer and friend to many. He was a great example of true bravery and courage. He was a hero!
Scott will leave a void that will not easily (if ever) be filled. I personally will always remember spending a few brief minutes working out at the same time in the police department workout room. Scott was rehabbing his knee. He was tenacious in his efforts to get back to doing what he loved. I was impressed with the amount of determination he showed.
Rest easy Scott. You will be missed...but never forgotten!
