He'll Just Have To Settle For The Million Dollars

Tony Stewart did his best tonight to hold onto a spot in the top ten NASCAR drivers who will compete in the 'Chase for the Championship." But in the end, he finished the Rock & Roll 500 at Richmond in 18th place. That put him 16 points out and in the eleventh spot. He will not be a contender for the championship, but will collect the one million dollar prize that goes to the driver in the 11th spot (if he can hang in there).

This is the first time in the last 5 years that Stewart didn't make the chase. But, my congratulations go out to Tony's rookie teamate Denny Hamlin. Denny drives the #11 Federal Express Chevrolet and will participate in the championship chase in his first year as a Nextel Cup driver.

Those who know me - know that I am a diehard Tony Stewart fan...so despite his not making the run to defend his Championship....I'll still be rooting for 'Smoke' to pull out a few wins in the last 10 races!!
