Lightning hit near our house a week ago and fried the power source for my pc. I now have it back and here's what's new in the old Prugh compound.
Things have been interesting the last couple weeks. My father in-law passed away. We had his viewing and funeral. I have spent time going back and forth from the home to the hospital to see my dad. His brain cancer has him degenerating a little more each week. But on a positive note, the cancer in his brain has deadened the areas that govern pain, so he feels very little pain now. My mom called to tell me he was coming home today, which is good, but then she said he would have to be in 'palliative care.' That rates somewhere between the hopsital and hospice, so it's also bittersweet. But, my dad is upbeat and fighting hard. He is a Christ-follower and knows that God is with him and will continue to sustain him and give him peace.
Also, this last Saturday night I went to the 7:30 service at GCC and met up with my wife, kids and the entire side of my wife's family. Including my nephew and his wife (whom I haven't seen in 2 years)! Mark's message hit on the concept of staying close to God so that our lives would be focused and on track w/ his purpose. My nephew later told me that it hit him really hard. He had told us that he wasn't able to make it to his grandpa's funeral because he was in the hospital. This was true, but he told us Saturday night, that the reason he was in the hopital was that he has been battling an addiction to Meth and almost overdosed. While in the hospital he realized how far he was from God and decided to get back to the family. That was a week ago and he hasn't gone anywhere near meth.
In Mark's message, he said, "if God seems far away from you....it wasn't God who moved." That rattled my nephew. When Mark prayed at the end, my nephew asked God to forgive him and renewed his heart & life to Christ. He and his wife are thinking of moving back to this area from the Fort Wayne viccinity, and he says he wants to come back to GCC. He told me that, "it was the coolest church I have ever been to." Before we left that night, the entire family gathered around my nephew Seth and his wife Mary, and we prayed for them. It was an incredible time and I am looking forward to what God is going to do in and through this couple and their 3 children. One other cool thing is that Seth is a musician and plays guitar. he built a small recording studio in the basement of his house. He said he would record his electric guitar there, but was looking for an acoustic guitar to buy. He had gone into several pawnshops but for some reason, never found one he liked. He came to church Saturday night and I got to tell him that his grandpa wanted him to have his Fender acoustic guitar. Right then and there, he lost it. He could barely take in the moment and it was definitely a key family moment for us all.
