Today is a sad day for NASCAR fans. Announcer and former Winston Cup Champion Benny Parsons died today, after a battle with lung cancer. Parsons death comes just 32 days from the running of the Daytona 500, NASCAR's season opening race.

Benny's announcing was always done in a way that everyone could understand. He had a way of explaining how something worked that made it easier to understand. He also "called-em-like-he-saw-em." If he had an opinion, he shared it. The difference with Benny though, was that he shared what he felt, but never bashed some one's character while doing it. He will be missed by many.
