Book #1 of 2007

This is book #1 of my 25 book goal for this year. My mom got it for me for Christmas and since it was a short read, I thought I'd knock it out first. Good thing too, because it is an awesome book! The book is all of 96 pages and can be read in about 60-90 minutes. It's about dealing with change (and how to view change) in your life. Simply put, it is the story of 4 characters. Two mice named Sniffy & Scurry and two mouse-sized little people named Hem & Haw. Their existence is lived out in a maze, where they search for cheese (to meet their needs of health, happiness and success). I recommend everyone to read this book. It is only a story, but within the story there are so many thought-provoking moments. Here are a few that I was struck by:

- The more important something is to us - the more you want to hold onto it.

- Getting too comfortable can become fatal.

- When you change what you believe, you change what you do.

- Noticing small changes early, helps you adapt to the bigger changes that are to come.

- The fastest way to change is to laugh at your own folly - then you can let go and quickly move on.

- Keep life simple. Don't over analyze or over complicate things.

- Envision yourself in realistic detail - finding something better.

- The BIGGEST inhibitor to change lies within yourself, and nothing gets better until you change.

- Some fear should be respected, as it can keep you out of danger. But most fears are irrational and keep us from changing when we need to.

- What would you do if you weren't afraid?

- Do what you can to avoid being surprised by unexpected change.

- It is better to initiate change while you can, than to try to react and adjust to it.

- Are we managing, when we should be leading?
