The other morning whenI got up, I came out and sat down on the couch to talk with Carol. I saw she had taken notes of a message by a pastor on tv. They were 10 life suggestions. I liked them so much I thought I'd post them for everyone to check out.
1. Take responsibility for your actions.
2. Be willing to work for what you want. Rediscover the work ethic, For parents...don't hand your children everything or they'll become brats.
3. Don't waste time fighting for what you cannot change - move on and get over it!
4. Admit when you're wrong. Don't be an eternal victim.
5. Forgive and then forget. The seed of unforgiveness is a grudge, which when it grows, reaps a harvest of bitterness, guilt and regret.
6. Be generous.
7. Let your mouth be ruled by kindness. Apologize often. Do not bad mouth in your home.
8. Don't indulge in self-pity. It is a sin that puts you as the focal point. Get up, dust yourself off and keep walking. Remember, "greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world."
9. Listen. REALLY listen. Try to understand the viewpoints of others. Parents...talk with your children. You are their moral compass (not the tv, their music, movies, their freinds, etc.). On average kids get 42 seconds of uninterrupted conversation with their parents each day.
10. Be a peacemaker and a problem solver. Whether you are right or wrong, choose not to fight over unimportant things (husband and wives especially).
Well, there they are, simple but profound. I hope they give us all something to think about.
